Emergency Line That is Always Answered by a Doctor Not an Answering Service

Here at our Pittsburgh dental practice, we provide quality dental services to our patients. But in some cases, patients are not able to wait until a scheduled appointment to get care.

That’s why we provide our patients with an emergency line they can call not just to get help, but to speak to a dental professional who can provide them with quick advice. It is not an answering service, but a call answered by a doctor.

This means if one of our Northland Dental Medicine patients is experiencing problems after an extraction, severe pain from an infection, or just needs assistance after hours, they can call the emergency line to speak to a dentist.

Northland Dental Medicine not only provides emergency dental services to patients that need last minute help, but the following general dental services:
1. Dentures
2. Digital x-rays
3. Crowns and bridges
4. Root canals
5. Periodontal care
6. Invisalign
7. Wisdom teeth extractions

Thermography Machine

At Northland Dental Medicine, we use the latest in dental technology to provide our patients with quality dental care. One type of technology we use is athermography machine. This machine lets us take advantage of thermal imaging to help diagnose different dental conditions our patients are facing. The thermography machine works by showing us a white or red light when the patient has a worrisome condition, such as an infected tooth, TMJ disorder, or gum disease.

The thermography machine measures heat from different sources of the mouth. When heat comes through and causes a light to shine on the machine, we know it has found something. This lets us screen our patients to look for cavities, infections or decay that is not shown on traditional x-rays. Thermal imaging does not use any radiation, which is one of the many benefits to using this type of machine. It also provides a pain free way to diagnose different problems, especially with infections or cavities we can’t find otherwise.

To experience the thermography machine first hand, call Dr. Michael Corsello at 412-367-7400 to schedule a consultation.

Snore Guards

A variety of special mouth guards are provided here in our dental practice, including snore guards. Snore guards are a great way to prevent snoring while you sleep. This doesn’t just benefit you, but your spouse as well.

When our patients snore, their sleep is interrupted continually throughout the night. Snoring is also linked to other health problems, like diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and heart disease. By getting a snore guard, patients are able to stop snoring and help themselves and their spouse sleep more soundly as well.

One of the primary benefits to snore guards here at Northland Dental Medicine is that they are custom made. Rather than trying to wear an uncomfortable oral appliance meant to fit everyone, our snore guards are designed from impressions of your teeth. This means you are not attempting to sleep while wearing a snore guard that doesn’t fit you right. It is small, easy to wear, and works by preventing your tongue from slipping and blocking your air passage.

If you have been having difficulty sleeping due to frequent snoring, visit Dr. Michael Corsello in Pittsburgh, PA for a snore guard consultation.

Teeth Whitening

Not being thrilled with their smile because of staining or discoloration is something many of our patients struggle with. Fortunately, at Northland Dental Medicine, we offer two main options in teeth whitening tray whitening and KoR whitening. Teeth whitening can be done right in our dental office, benefiting patients who have not had success with store-bought whitening options. Each of them provides many great benefits, such as the following:
  • Limited sensitivity.
  • In-office whitening for fast results.
  • Teeth that are 6-8 shades whiter.
  • Long-lasting results with minimal upkeep.
The tray whitening system is the first type of teeth whitening we offer, whereby we utilize custom-made trays and a whitening gel. The best part about this is that patients keep the finished trays and can whiten their own teeth at home at a later date. They are made from impressions of the patient’s teeth, providing a quality whitening experience. KoR teeth whitening is an in-office whitening system that gets deep down into the enamel of the teeth for longer lasting results.

Mini Implants

Dental implants are often a great choice in order to replace missing teeth. But at Northland Dental Medicine, Dr. Michael Corsello also offers additional options including mini implants. The mini implant is used to provide denture stability.

The procedure involves having a number of mini implants placed on the gum line. Because the implants are small, an incision in the gum line is usually not needed. Once the mini implants are inserted, the dentures are snapped on and are held securely in place. The mini implant becomes a base for the dentures. Mini implants can be used on both lower and upper dentures.
There are several benefits to having mini implants including the following:
  • Quick and Easy: The procedure is less complicated than getting traditional implants and is usually completed in one office visit.
  • Less Cost: Mini implants are often less expensive than having multiple traditional implants placed.
  • Decreased denture movement: Using mini implants also decreases denture movement, which means you won’t have to deal with loose fitting dentures.
Mini implants are not appropriate in every situation. At Northland Dental Medicine, we would be happy to provide you with a free consultation in order to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure.

For more information on mini implants or any of our other services, please call Northland Dental Medicine at 412-367-7400.

Dental Implants

If you have a missing tooth, you know how it can affect your self-esteem. Smiling with a gap between your teeth can make you feel self-conscious and may make you reluctant to smile. But missing teeth can also interfere with chewing and speaking properly. A missing tooth or teeth can also change your bite, which may put additional pressure on other teeth.

At Northland Dental Medicine, Dr. Michael Corsello, offers options when it comes to replacing missing teeth, such as dental implants. Dental implants are a permanent solution used in order to replace the function and appearance of a missing tooth.

A dental implant involves a few steps including surgically placing the implants into the jawbone. The implant fuses to the bone and creates a strong foundation for the prosthetic tooth. A post is then attached to the implant, which will hold a crown. Crowns are matched to the size, shape and color of existing natural teeth. They are virtually indistinguishable from your other teeth.

Our team at Northland Dental Medicine is proud to offer the latest technology and innovations in dentistry. Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you. Our goal is to help you smile with confidence. We are happy to answer any of your questions and provide free consolations.
For more information on dental implants or in order to schedule an appointment, please call our office at 412-367-7400.

Screw Retained Dentures

Dentures may be a great solution in order to restore your smile and also the function of your teeth. But problems with dentures can occur. Even the best adhesive cannot always hold dentures in place. Slipping and sliding are often a common problem for denture wearers. At Northland Dental Medicine, we offer solutions for people who wear dentures including screw retained dentures.
Screw retained dentures are a permanent method used to hold dentures in place. Titanium implants are inserted into the gum line, which serve as an anchor for the dentures. The number of implants needed will vary, but often dentures may be supported with four implants.

If you are looking for a permanent solution for ill-fitting and moving dentures, screw retained dentures provide support and stability. Since dentures fit better, the function of your dentures is also improved. That means you can smile, eat and talk with confidence.

In addition to screw retained dentures, we also offer mini implants in order to secure your dentures. Dr. Michael Corsello will be happy to provide you with a free consultation in order to help you decide which type of dental implant or dentures would work best.

For more information on screw retained dentures or any of our other services, please call, Northland Dental Medicine at 412-367-7400.
